About the Band

Police Scotland Fife Pipe Band was established in September 2007 as Fife Constabulary Pipe Band and was placed into Grade 1 by the RSPBA the following February. Its first contest was Dunbar Highland Games in May 2008, where the band won first prize.

The band made an immediate impact at the 2008 World Pipe Band Championships, qualifying for the Grade 1 final after finishing second in its morning qualifier. The original leadership included Pipe Major James Murray and Pipe Sergeant Andrew Mathieson, both formerly of Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia.

Following the formation of Police Scotland, the band changed name from Fife Constabulary Pipe Band to Police Scotland Fife Pipe Band. Its strongest season to date was 2018, when it finished in the top six at all major championships and placed sixth at the Worlds.
