About the Band

Burntisland & District Pipe Band is a civilian pipe band from Burntisland in Fife. The band was formed in 1923, making it one of Scotland’s long-established community pipe bands. Public profiles describe it as a Burntisland-based civilian band with roots going back to the early 1920s.

The band has been active in competition as well as local performance, with references listing it as a Grade 4A band and one of the older bands registered with the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association.

Burntisland has also played an important role in developing younger players. Fundraising material notes that the organisation has grown to support two competing bands and a strong learner base, helping cover costs such as uniforms, buses to competitions and upkeep of the band hall.
