About the Band

Joseph Forde Memorial Pipe Band is a Northern Ireland pipe band with roots in the County Armagh pipe band scene. Publicly available formal history is limited, but the band is known as one of the bands associated with piper and composer Jim Livingston, who was described by Piping Press as a founder member of Joseph Forde Memorial.

The band’s strongest recorded competition period came under Ian Jess, who returned to the leadership role in 1992. That season, Joseph Forde Memorial won Grade 3 Ulster and Cowal titles, then followed it in 1993 with All-Ireland and World Championship success. Piping Press notes that the band was especially admired for having so much home-grown talent in its ranks.

Although the band later folded for a period, it has reappeared in recent years at Northern Ireland contests and parades, with public footage showing appearances at events including Fermanagh, Enniskillen, Keady and the Ulster Pipe Band Championships.
