About the Band

Cloughfin Pipe Band is based in Kildress, near Cookstown in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, and was established in 1926. The band was formed as part of the INF cooperative, a local collective that helped raise funds for the community during difficult times. Its first practice venue was a blacksmith’s workshop, a detail still reflected in the band’s logo through the use of an anvil.

The band has remained closely tied to the Kildress area for almost a century, supporting local culture, parades, community events and competition. Recent listings show Cloughfin competing in Grade 3A with the RSPBA Northern Ireland Branch, in the Mid Ulster section, wearing the Black Stewart tartan.

In 2026, Cloughfin marks its centenary, including a major celebration concert in Cookstown featuring guest performers Stuart Liddell and Steven McWhirter. A proper Tyrone stalwart then: born beside an anvil, still hammering away on the contest field 100 years later.
