About the Band

Pitlochry & Blair Atholl Pipe Band is based in Highland Perthshire and was formed on 1 November 2004. It was created as a community and competition band serving the Pitlochry and Blair Atholl area, with a focus on public performance, player development and Celtic music.

The band has built links beyond Scotland, including musical connections with Brittany and the Breton bagad tradition. It has travelled to France, learned Breton music and competed at the Breton Championships in Brest.

Today, Pitlochry & Blair Atholl competes under the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, with recent listings showing Grade 3A activity. The band is also a registered Scottish charity, with aims including public education in bagpipe playing and drumming through performances and related activities.

It continues to represent Highland Perthshire through competition, public performances and community music-making, carrying forward a modern but locally rooted pipe band tradition.
