About the Band

Uddingston Strathclyde Pipe Band was formed in June 1972 by Wilson Shaw and is based in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire. The organisation has long served as a community pipe band, performing at local events while also competing nationally within the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association structure.

Over the years, Uddingston Strathclyde developed into a multi-band organisation, supporting players across different levels, including Grade 4, Grade 3 and Grade 2 bands. In 2020, it introduced an academy structure to strengthen teaching and player development for the future.

The band later simplified its competition name to Uddingston, reflecting a focus on its senior and development bands while maintaining its roots in the local community. Today, it continues to support piping and drumming in central Scotland through teaching, competition and public performance.
