About the Band

St. Joseph’s Clondalkin Pipe Band, usually known as St. Joseph’s Pipe Band, is based in Clondalkin, County Dublin. The band was founded in 1937 and has long been part of the local community, with its home and teaching base on Old Nangor Road.

The band has a proud competitive record, winning two World Championship titles and multiple All-Ireland Championships. Its modern story includes a major comeback: after a quieter spell and a merger with St. Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band in 1999, St. Joseph’s returned strongly to competition, progressing through the grades under leaders including Tim Farrelly and Philip Duffy.

A standout recent achievement came in 2019, when St. Joseph’s won the Grade 3 World Pipe Band Championship at Glasgow Green, earning promotion to Grade 2 for the following season.

The band also has a strong teaching role, offering piping and drumming classes in Clondalkin and helping new generations into the music.
