About the Band

Dunnottar Pipes & Drums is a Scottish community pipe band based around Stonehaven, drawing members from Stonehaven, the Mearns, Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire. The band was established in 1996 as Craigmarroin Pipe Band, initially practising in Muchalls Village Hall under Pipe Major Iain McFadden. It later moved practice to Newtonhill and became Newtonhill Pipe Band before adopting the name Dunnottar Pipes & Drums in April 2024.

The band is a registered Scottish charity, SC041533, and continues to perform across the north-east, with practices in Portlethen and Stonehaven. Local coverage notes regular appearances at events such as Stonehaven’s Remembrance Sunday parade, the Hogmanay Fireballs, Feein’ Market and other community celebrations.
