Portland Metro Pipe Band was formed in 2006 in Portland, Oregon, and has developed into one of the leading competitive pipe bands in the Pacific Northwest. The band brings together pipers and drummers from across the region and is described by its own organisation as Oregon’s only Grade 2 competitive pipe band. It is led by Pipe Major Mark Tomasetti and Drum Sergeant Andrew Finley.

The band has competed at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow on three occasions, as well as at the North American Championships in Ontario. It mainly competes around the Pacific Northwest, but also travels to contests in places such as California and Chicago.

Portland Metro has also performed with the Irish group The Chieftains and supports the Portland Metro Youth Pipe Band, helping teach the next generation of pipers and drummers. A proper modern competition outfit then: Oregon skirl, serious ambition, and enough travel miles to make a pipe case need therapy.
