About the Band
Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band is based in Southern California’s Inland Empire area. The band was founded in 1974 as the City of San Bernardino Pipe Band, before being renamed in 1986 in recognition of its sponsor, R.P. Blandford & Son, a British import store in Redlands, California.
Under Kevin Blandford’s leadership, the band developed into a successful West Coast competition organisation, winning several regional championship titles. After Kevin’s death in 2003, the band adopted the name Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band in his honour.
The band has travelled to Scotland several times, securing placements at the World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 3A and Grade 3B, including appearances in 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2017. Today, Blandford Bands continues to promote piping and drumming through competition, teaching and performance, with a legacy stretching back more than 50 years.
