Youghal Pipe Band is based in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, and is one of the longest-established pipe bands in the country. It was founded in 1914 by Danny “Duis” McCarthy and was originally known as Cork Hill Pipe Band.

The band’s early years were difficult, with limited funds and the wider political tensions of the period affecting its activities. Its first public performance took place in the Corpus Christi Procession in 1914, beginning a long tradition of local parades, civic events and community performances.

Over more than a century, Youghal Pipe Band has remained closely linked to the town’s cultural life, passing leadership through generations of the McCarthy family and continuing to promote piping and drumming in East Cork. Today, it remains active in performance, teaching and community events, preserving a proud musical tradition that has lasted since before the First World War.
