About the Band
National Youth Pipe Band Germany is a youth pipe band project created by the Bagpipe Association of Germany, or BAG. The initiative was launched in 2022 to bring together young pipers, drummers and drum majors from across Germany, generally aimed at players aged 10 to 26.
The band was formed to raise standards, give young players access to national-level coaching, and create a stronger pathway for piping and drumming development in Germany. Members come from different regional bands and meet for workshops, rehearsals and performances across the country.
Since its formation, the band has appeared at major events including the Peine Highland Gathering and has competed internationally. In 2025 it competed in Grade 4A at the European Pipe Band Championships, where social media listings described the band as led by Pipe Major Heinrich Herzog and noted a runner-up finish.
Today, National Youth Pipe Band Germany represents an important step in developing the next generation of German pipers and drummers.
