Benoni MacTalla Pipe Band is based in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. It was formed in 1999 by Pipe Major Chris Macaulay to provide a senior competition band for players coming through the successful Benoni High School Pipe Band system. In its early years, most members came directly from the school band.

The band quickly became one of South Africa’s leading Grade 2 pipe bands, competing regularly at national contests and travelling overseas to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow. A major highlight came in 2009, when Benoni MacTalla won a World Championship title in its grade under Pipe Major Robert du Toit.

MacTalla has also won multiple South African Championship and Champion of Champions titles, including strong seasons in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Today, the band remains an important part of the Benoni pipe band structure, supporting high-level competition and player development in South Africa.
