Rothesay & District Pipe Band is based in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. The band was formed in 1975 and has since become an important part of the island’s musical and community life. It performs at local events, parades, Highland gatherings, civic occasions and public celebrations, helping keep piping and drumming visible on Bute.

The band is closely associated with Bute Highland Games, where Rothesay & District is recognised as the island’s own pipe band. It wears Modern Bute Stuart tartan, reflecting its local identity and connection to the island.

Over the years, Rothesay & District has also maintained a competition presence, including junior and novice activity, supporting the development of younger pipers and drummers. Today, the band continues to represent Rothesay and Bute through community performance, teaching and competition.
