About the Band
Lanark & District Pipe Band is a community and competition pipe band based in Lanark, South Lanarkshire. The band dates from 1923 and has served the local area for over a century, supporting civic events, parades, community occasions and pipe band competitions.
The band practises at St Nicholas Church Halls in Lanark and continues to offer tuition for pipers and drummers, helping bring new players into the pipe band tradition.
Competitively, Lanark & District has taken part in Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association contests over many years. In 2008, the band was competing in Grade 3A and placed 12th out of 24 bands at the World Pipe Band Championships, showing its place as an established contesting band.
Today, Lanark & District Pipe Band remains active as both a teaching and competing organisation, representing Lanark while continuing a pipe band tradition that has lasted since the inter-war years.
