About the Band

Kintyre Schools Pipe Band is based in Campbeltown, Argyll, and draws young pipers and drummers from schools across the Kintyre area. The band was founded in 2001 and has developed into an important youth pipe band programme for a region with a strong piping tradition.

The band has represented Kintyre at school and RSPBA competitions, including the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships and major pipe band championships. In 2006, it was voted “Scottish Pipe Band of the Year”, showing the strength of its early impact.

Recent results show the band continuing to compete successfully, including winning the New Forrest Shield at the British Pipe Band Championships in 2022 and beginning the 2025 season with a strong performance at the Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships.

Today, Kintyre Schools Pipe Band continues to develop young musicians through piping, drumming, performance and competition, helping keep the Campbeltown and Kintyre pipe band tradition alive for the next generation.
