About the Band
Beverley & District Pipe Band is based near Hull in East Yorkshire and developed from the former Kingstown Scottish Pipe Band. Kingstown Scottish was formed in 1991 by members of the East Hull Army Cadet Pipe Band who wanted to compete in Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association contests, which the Cadet Force could not fund.
The band later became Beverley & District Pipe Band and continues as East Yorkshire’s only competitive Grade 4 pipe band. It draws players from across East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, combining competition with public performances and learner development.
Today, Beverley & District remains a community-focused band, performing at events while encouraging new pipers and drummers to get involved. The band is led by Pipe Major Paul Wright and Leading Drummer Tony Marshall.
