About the Band
City of Plymouth Pipe Band was formed in 1975 by a former member of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
It was originally known as Plymouth Argyll Pipe Band, later became Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Association Pipes and Drums, and changed its name to City of Plymouth Pipe Band in 1985.
The band has long supported parades, carnivals, and community events across the South West of England.
In recent years it has stepped further into major competition, marking its 50th anniversary year in 2025 with a first World Championship trophy in Glasgow and an All England title at Chatsworth. Not bad for a band apparently formed in a pub.
