About the Band
Durham Regional Police Pipes & Drums is based in Durham Region, Ontario, Canada. The band was formed in 1996 by Staff Sergeant Charlie Green and Sergeant Roy Good, and was created to represent the Durham Regional Police Service through piping and drumming.
Most members are civilian volunteers, and the band performs at police ceremonies, parades, Highland games, community events and international engagements. It also competes in pipe band contests, with competition bands listed in Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5.
The band wears the Durham Regional Police tartan, designed and registered in 2024 to mark the 50th anniversary of the police service. It also runs youth teaching programmes for Highland bagpipes and snare, tenor and bass drumming, helping develop new players while acting as musical ambassadors for Durham Regional Police.
