About the Band
St. Andrew’s Pipe Band CA refers to the St. Andrew’s College pipe band tradition in Aurora, Ontario, Canada. The school’s Pipes and Drums were established in 1915 as part of the college’s Cadet Corps, under the instruction of Pipe Major James Fraser of the 48th Highlanders of Canada.
The band became a central part of St. Andrew’s College life, supporting cadet parades, church parades, inspections and school ceremonies. Its role was strongly ceremonial at first, providing music for the battalion when marching, but over time the programme also developed a wider teaching and performance identity.
Aurora’s St. Andrew’s piping tradition has since expanded beyond the school band itself. The St. Andrew’s College Association Pipe Band, founded in 2019, is an affiliated competitive band based in Aurora and has competed in the higher grades, giving former pupils and adult players a route to continue playing after school.
