About the Band

R.A.F. Central Scotland Pipes & Drums is one of the official Royal Air Force pipe bands in Scotland. The band is generally described as having been formed in 1947, giving it post-war roots in the RAF piping tradition. It is part of the wider RAF Pipes and Drums family, alongside bands such as RAF Halton, RAF Lossiemouth, RAF Cosford and RAF Waddington.

The band is active both ceremonially and competitively. It currently presents itself as a Grade 4A competing band and regularly performs at major public and military events.

RAF Central Scotland has appeared at high-profile occasions including the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, where RAF musicians were part of the 2018 RAF centenary showcase, and at remembrance events in Edinburgh, including leading a military parade on the Royal Mile.
