About the Band
Rockingham City Pipe Band was formed in June 1995 by a group of dedicated residents from the City of Rockingham in Western Australia. From the beginning, the band focused on teaching and promoting the Great Highland Bagpipe along with snare, tenor and bass drumming, giving local players a route into both performance and competition.
The band has competed locally in Western Australia and has also travelled internationally. In 2003, it was invited to perform at the Blossom Festival in Osaka, Japan, Rockingham’s sister city. In 2008, the band travelled to Scotland, competing in four contests over three weeks, including the World Pipe Band Championships.
More recently, Rockingham City Pipe Band has continued to perform and compete, including attendance at the 2024 Southeast Asian Pipe Band Championships, where it achieved second place. Today, the band remains active in teaching, community events and competition: a proper WA outfit with local roots, overseas miles, and enough drones to make Baldivis sit up straight.
