About the Band

Lochaber Pipe Band is based in Lorain, Ohio, USA. The band was formed in October 1966, when four pipers and one drummer met for their first practice at the Canadian Legion Hall in Lorain. The Canadian Legion Post 54 supported the new group by providing rehearsal space and buying the band its first bass drum.

Its first engagement was a social night for the Canadian Legion, beginning a long connection with local community events, parades and Scottish cultural activity in northern Ohio. The band has continued to perform at public occasions and Highland gatherings, including events such as the Ohio Scottish Games.

Today, Lochaber Pipe Band remains an active community pipe band, promoting Highland piping and drumming through performance, competition and local engagement while carrying forward a tradition that began in Lorain in the 1960s.
