About the Band

Capital District United Pipe Band is based in New York’s Capital District, around the Albany and Schenectady area. It is a newer competition band registered with the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association, with roster records showing activity from late 2023 onward. The band has drawn players from across the local piping scene, including Albany, Scotia, Schenectady and nearby communities.

The band appears closely linked to the wider Capital District piping community, which includes the long-established Capital District Youth Pipe Band, formerly Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band, founded in 1991. That youth programme has produced players for competition at high levels and has helped sustain piping and drumming in the region.

Capital District United has established a rehearsal base in Schenectady and continues to develop as an adult competition outlet for pipers and drummers in upstate New York. Today, it represents a growing part of the Capital District’s pipe band scene, supporting competition, player progression and local Scottish music activity.
