About the Band

The Uplanders Pipe Band is a combined youth pipe band project from the western United States, bringing together players from Upland High School Pipe Band and Glendora High School Pipe Band in California, Lander Pipe Band in Wyoming, and the Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band in Utah. The collaboration was created to give young pipers and drummers a chance to compete internationally under one banner.

In 2025, the band represented the western US in Scotland, competing in Novice Juvenile B at the European Pipe Band Championships and the World Pipe Band Championships. Pipe Band Rankings records list the band as active in WUSPBA, with its location shown as Upland / Lander, California / Wyoming, and its best logged result as 8th at the European Pipe Band Championships.

Rather than being a traditional single-town band, Uplanders is best understood as a shared youth development squad: four bands, one travelling team, and enough teenage drone power to make Glasgow check its earplugs.
