About the Band

Clan Gordon Pipe Band is based in Tacoma, Washington, USA. It was formed in 1955 when Scottish immigrants and American players joined together with sponsorship from Clan Gordon to create a pipe band for the Pacific Northwest. The first Pipe Major was Johnnie Montgomery, whose family remained closely connected with the band for many years.

Although Clan Gordon is no longer the band’s sponsor, the group has retained the name and continues as a non-profit organisation. It performs regularly at Highland games, parades, festivals, memorials and community events across Washington and the wider Pacific Northwest.

Today, Clan Gordon Pipe Band continues to promote Highland piping and drumming through public performance, teaching and community involvement, maintaining a pipe band tradition in Tacoma that has lasted for almost 70 years.
