About the Band

College of Piping - Canada Pipe Band is based in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, and is part of The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada. Its roots trace back to the Summerside Presbyterian Pipe Band, active from 1963 to 1969, before reforming in 1986 as the Caledonian Pipe Band. The band became affiliated with the College of Piping in 1990 and began carrying the College name in 1993.

The organisation has developed competitive bands in several grades, alongside a development band for learners. Its achievements include North American Championship titles in Grades 3 and 4, strong Grade 3B placings at the World Pipe Band Championships, and winning the Grade 4B World Championship in 2017.

Today, the College of Piping Pipe Band continues to support piping and drumming education in Atlantic Canada through tuition, competition and performance, forming part of the College’s wider mission to preserve Celtic performing arts in Prince Edward Island.
