About the Band

The Nutscheid Forest Pipe Band e.V. is based in Nümbrecht, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and has been bringing Scottish piping and drumming to the Bergisches Land, Cologne, Bonn, and the Rhein-Sieg district since 2000. The band takes its name from the Nutscheid Forest, giving it a distinct local identity while performing in traditional Highland style.

The organisation is active both as a performance band and as a competition band, with members drawn from across Germany and beyond. Its competition section has become one of the stronger names in the German scene, appearing in BAG events and competing in Grade 3 and Grade 2 formats. In 2023, Nutscheid Forest Pipe Band was named All German Champion in Grade 3, Grade 2, and Open Grade, a fine bit of trophy-hoovering if ever there was one.

Recent performances include appearances at the Peine International Pipe Band Championships and BAG winter competitions, showing the band’s continued presence in German pipe band competition. Today, Nutscheid Forest Pipe Band remains a prominent German pipe band, combining community performances, teaching, and serious competition work.
