Knysna & Districts Pipe Band is based in Knysna on South Africa’s Garden Route. The band began in 2008 as the Knysna Pipe Band, formed from an informal group of local pipers, and later adopted the Knysna & Districts name as players joined from surrounding areas.

The band was officially formed in 2009, with some early equipment donated by Rotarian Pipe Major Bob Shepherd from Scotland. It was created to promote piping and drumming along the Garden Route and has since grown into a strong local organisation. (facebook.com)

Knysna has performed at community events, Highland gatherings and competitions across South Africa. In 2016, the band had a successful season, topping its grade at national competitions in Amanzimtoti, Benoni and Pretoria, and later developed both a senior and development band.

Today, Knysna & Districts Pipe Band continues to support piping and drumming through tuition, performance and competition in South Africa’s Western Cape.
