About the Band

St. Anthony’s High School Celtic Friars Pipe Band is based at St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, Long Island, New York. The band was founded in September 2009 to honour the school’s Irish heritage and the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn, who originally came from Ireland in 1858.

The band quickly became part of school life, performing at orientations, Masses, dinner dances, sporting events and graduation ceremonies. It has also represented the school at major public events across the New York metropolitan area, including the New York City St Patrick’s Day Parade.

St. Anthony’s also offers structured bagpipe instruction, with students progressing into the Celtic Friars Pipe Band and taking part in concerts, parades, athletic events and EUSPBA competition activity.

Today, the Celtic Friars continue to develop young pipers and drummers while representing St. Anthony’s through performance, competition and school tradition.
