About the Band

Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was established in 1962 by Scottish immigrants and their families who wanted to preserve Highland traditions in the Great Basin. It is one of Utah’s oldest pipe bands and describes itself as the longest continuously running pipe band in the state.

The organisation is formally registered as Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band and White Heather Dancers, reflecting its combined piping, drumming and Highland dancing heritage. The band performs and competes across the western United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, including appearances at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow.

Today, Salt Lake Scots continues to promote Scottish music and dance through public performance, competition, teaching and community involvement, representing Utah within the wider North American pipe band scene.
