About the Band
Perth Metro Pipe Band is based in Perth, Western Australia, and was established in 2006, with early formation activity recorded in March 2007 when the group began with five pipers and two drummers. It has grown into one of Western Australia’s leading competition pipe bands, fielding Grade 3 and Grade 4 groups while also performing at community events, school fêtes, charity events and ANZAC Day parades.
The band has achieved major success in Australia and overseas. In 2016, Perth Metro won the Grade 3B World Pipe Band Championship in Glasgow, and in 2018 it placed third in Grade 3A after winning its qualifying heat. It has also won state titles across Grades 2, 3 and 4, and was listed as the 2026 Australian Grade 3 champion.
Today, Perth Metro continues to promote piping and drumming in Western Australia through competition, performance and tuition, with regular rehearsals in Subiaco.
