About the Band

Macdonald Pipe Band of Pittsburgh is one of the long-established pipe bands in western Pennsylvania, USA. The band has been active for around 60 years and operates as a non-profit organisation promoting Scottish piping and drumming through performance, teaching and community engagement.

Based in the Pittsburgh area, the band performs at parades, festivals, memorials, civic events and private engagements, while also helping develop pipers and drummers locally. It has built its identity around tradition, musicianship and friendship, describing itself as “the pipes of Pittsburgh.”

Today, Macdonald Pipe Band continues to represent Pittsburgh’s Scottish musical community, keeping Highland piping and drumming active through public performance, recruitment and player development.
