About the Band

Aven & District Pipe Band is based in the Pays de l’Aven area of southern Finistère, Brittany, France, with close links to Riec-sur-Bélon. The band was formerly known as GPS Pipe Band, founded in 2010, and adopted the name Aven & District Pipe Band in May 2019 as the pipe band of Kevrenn de l’Aven.

The band has competed at events in France and Scotland, including Lorient, Menez Meur, Locoal-Mendon, Dumbarton and Glasgow. In August 2019, it won the French Pipe Band Championship at Lorient, organised by the Fédération Française de Pipe Bands.

Aven & District wears the Henderson Nouveau tartan and continues to promote pipe band music in Brittany through competition, performance and cultural events, bringing Scottish-style piping and drumming into the wider Breton musical landscape.
