About the Band
MacLean & District Pipe Band is based in Maclean, New South Wales, Australia, a town strongly associated with Scottish heritage. The band was established at the Maclean Hotel on 5 February 1898, making it one of Australia’s long-running pipe bands.
The band has played a central role in the cultural life of Maclean, often known as “the Scottish town in Australia”, performing at local parades, civic events, Highland gatherings and community occasions. It is especially linked with the Maclean Highland Gathering, one of Australia’s best-known Scottish festivals.
