About the Band

Kansas City St. Andrew Pipes & Drums is based in Kansas City, Missouri, and was founded in 1962. The band began from the undercroft of St. Andrew’s Church and has grown into the area’s oldest pipe and drum corps, preserving traditional Scottish music in Kansas City for more than 60 years.

The band is primarily community-focused, performing at parades, funerals, military, firefighter and law enforcement events, cultural celebrations and local festivals. It has also appeared with major artists including The Chieftains and The Elders, and opened for Rod Stewart at Kemper Arena.

Kansas City St. Andrew also has a strong teaching tradition, offering piping and drumming instruction and developing players who have gone on to compete at high levels, including Grade 1 bands. In 2024, the band was named Midwest Grade 5 Champion Supreme, continuing its long record of competition and community performance.
