About the Band

Flint Scottish Pipe Band is based in Flint, Michigan, USA, and was founded in 1916 by Scottish immigrants who wanted to preserve the music, dress and traditions of their homeland. The band was originally sponsored by Clan MacKenzie, and it continues to wear the MacKenzie tartan in recognition of that early support.

It is recognised as the oldest continuously running pipe band in Michigan, and has played an important role in keeping Scottish heritage visible in the Flint area for more than a century. The band has performed at parades, festivals, competitions and special events throughout Michigan, including Highland and Celtic gatherings.

Today, Flint Scottish Pipe Band remains a community organisation focused on performance, tradition and teaching, continuing the legacy started by Flint’s Scottish immigrant community in the early 20th century.
