About the Band

Pipes & Drums of Lindsay is based in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, and was formed in 1972. At the time, the town had only a small number of known pipers, including Ian Watt and Phil Cadick, and Watt began weekly practices to teach beginners and build a local band.

The band grew by attracting learners and players from Lindsay and surrounding communities such as Cannington, Peterborough and Sunderland. It became a regular part of local parades, Highland games, community events and concerts, while also running a teaching programme for piping and drumming.

The band wears the Ancient Lindsay tartan and continues to promote Scottish music in Ontario through performance, tuition and competition. More than 50 years after its formation, Pipes & Drums of Lindsay remains a community-focused band with a strong local identity and a long record of supporting new players.
