About the Band

Warwick Thistle Pipe Band is based in Warwick, Queensland, Australia, and is one of the best-known community pipe bands in the Southern Downs region. The band has been part of local Scottish cultural life for around a century, performing at civic events, commemorations, festivals and community gatherings across Warwick and the wider district.

Historic records show the band was already an active and successful competition band by the 1940s, winning at the Warwick Caledonian Society’s Highland Gathering in 1946 and competing against bands from Queensland and New South Wales.

Today, Warwick Thistle continues to promote piping and drumming through performance, teaching and community involvement. Its members range from young learners to experienced players, and the band remains closely associated with events such as ANZAC Day, Remembrance Day and regional festivals.

In recent years, the band has also raised its profile internationally, including plans to represent Warwick and the Southern Downs in Scotland.
