About the Band

Tacoma Scots Pipe Band is based in Tacoma, Washington, and was formed in 1971 by Pipe Major William “Bill” Micenko. The band was created to promote Scottish piping, drumming, dance and heritage in the Pacific Northwest, and has since become a familiar part of local Highland games, parades, community events and cultural celebrations.

The band wears the Sinclair tartan in honour of its founding Pipe Major and continues to present traditional Highland music through both performances and teaching. Its work links closely with the wider Tacoma Scottish community, including the long-running Tacoma Highland Games, first held in 1970.
