About the Band

Scots PGC Pipes & Drums is the school pipe band of The Scots PGC College in Warwick, Queensland, Australia. The college itself was established in 1918, and the pipe band reflects the school’s long Scottish heritage and use of the Cameron of Erracht tartan.

The band’s modern history is often traced to 1948, when the Finlay family donated six sets of pipes, three side drums and a bass drum to the school, giving the programme the instruments it needed to properly establish piping and drumming at the college.

Today, students can join the pipe band from around age nine, with lessons available from Year 3 onwards. The band competes at Highland gatherings in South-East Queensland, as well as at state and national championships.

Scots PGC Pipes & Drums has also appeared at major public events, including the Australia v Scotland rugby union test at Ballymore in 2002, the Polocrosse World Cup at Morgan Park in 2003 and 2007, and ANZAC commemorations in Europe, including Villers-Bretonneux in 2013.
