About the Band

Queensland Police Juvenile Pipes & Drums is the youth pipe band programme connected with Queensland Police Pipes & Drums in Brisbane. The senior Queensland Police Pipes & Drums was formally approved in March 1958 and gave its first performance at the RNA Grounds in August that year, giving the juvenile band a strong police-band heritage behind it.

The juvenile band was created to teach young players and build the next generation of pipers and drummers. Pipe Bands Australia lists Queensland Police Juvenile Pipes and Drums as a competing Grade 4 band, with members aged from 8 to 17.

The programme sits within the wider Queensland Police Pipes & Drums community work, which includes free tuition, public performances, charity events and positive engagement between Queensland Police and the public.

In recent years, the Queensland Police pipe band organisation has continued to grow its development pathway, with reports noting a third-tier band being formed in 2018 due to strong interest in learning pipes and drums.
