About the Band

Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band is based in Prestonpans, East Lothian. Its piping and drumming programme began in 2007 under the East Lothian Pipes and Drums Trust, now the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust. The project was set up to give pupils access to piping and drumming tuition through the school and its feeder primaries.

The band has grown into one of Scotland’s notable school pipe band programmes, with pupils progressing through development and novice bands towards the juvenile band, which competes at a high level.

Preston Lodge has become a strong presence on the RSPBA schools circuit. The Lothian & Borders branch lists Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band in Novice Juvenile B, with Ciaren Ross as Pipe Major, and records British Championship success in 2014 for both the band and drumming.

More recently, the band has continued to perform well nationally, including a fourth-place finish in Juvenile at the 2025 World Pipe Band Championships.
