About the Band

City of Regina Pipe Band is a Grade 2 pipe band from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. It began in September 1992, when a group of local pipe band musicians met to form a new organisation. The band chose the name City of Regina Pipe Band in December 1992 and was legally incorporated in January 1993.

Since then, it has become Saskatchewan’s leading competition pipe band. The band is described by both its own site and the Saskatchewan Pipe Band Association as Saskatchewan’s champion pipe band since 1992, and as the province’s only Grade 2 competition band.

The band has competed widely across North America and in Scotland, with Scottish tours in 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2012. It has also been active in teaching, youth development and event organisation, including the creation of a Grade 4 training band that later became the Conservatory Pipe Band at the University of Regina.

City of Regina also has a strong civic and ceremonial role. Since January 1994, it has been the official pipe band of the Royal Canadian Legion, Regina Branch No. 001, and it wears Modern MacTavish tartan.
