About the Band

Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band is the school pipe band of Brisbane Boys’ College in Toowong, Queensland, Australia. The band was formed in 1940 and has become a major part of the College’s heritage, ceremony and public identity. The College’s own history timeline records 1940 as the year the Pipe Band was formed.

Today, the BBC Pipe Band programme includes around 120 students across three bands, with a development band and a senior Number 1 Band representing the College at higher levels of competition and ceremonial performance. Students receive individual tuition in dedicated Pipe Band rooms and perform at College, community, national and international events.

The band has achieved strong competitive success, including winning the Australian Championships in 2016. It has also performed on major international stages, including the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2018, 2022 and 2024, the 2019 Sydney Tattoo, and the 2023 Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.

Brisbane Boys’ College Pipe Band is one of the best-known school pipe band programmes in Australia.
